Saints hopeful on Lawes and Burrell ahead of Exeter clash

Dorian West is hopeful that Courtney Lawes and Luther Burrell could play a part in Saints' game at Exeter Chiefs on Sunday.

Lawes missed last Saturday’s win against Sale Sharks due to the ankle problem he picked up in the previous week’s win at Saracens.

Burrell was also ruled out of the 26-11 success at Franklin’s Gardens, withdrawing at the last minute after suffering a quad strain.

But Saints insist the injuries are not as bad as some had feared and West is remaining positive on the pair’s chances of playing in the key Aviva Premiership clash at Sandy Park.

“Courtney’s not too bad,” said the forwards coach.

“He jarred his ankle so it wasn’t too bad.

“We’re really hopeful of him being involved so we’ll keep working hard with that.

“It’s a similar story with Luth. He’s improving day by day and he’s an option for us.”
