Saints fly-half Myler can’t wait for season to start

And the fly-half is now eager to get the new season started as he and his club aim to go one better than last year.

Saints were beaten 37-17 in the Twickenham showpiece in May, losing their chance to claim the title for the first time.

But there is added optimism surrounding the club this summer, following the arrival of star names such as George North and Kahn Fotuali’i.

Myler, who spent some of his close season with England on their tour of South America, is looking forward to the new campaign.

And he is hoping the intense pre-season work pays off as Saints aim to banish the demons of that defeat to Tigers when the new Premiership season starts on September 7.

“It seems a long time ago since the last game for the club,” said the fly-half, who won his first England cap in their second Test win against Argentina in June.

“There’s only so much training you can do without wanting to get back on the pitch and get back involved in a game.

“The hard work of pre-season will hopefully pay off and it’s a case of being right for the next two pre-season games (against Edinburgh and Leinster) before the season starts.

“It feels like it’s on the horizon now and we’re all excited about that.”
