Saints discover their route to Amlin Challenge Cup final

Saints will travel to Aviva Premiership rivals Sale Sharks in the quarter-finals of the Amlin Challenge Cup.

Jim Mallinder’s men dropped out of the Heineken Cup after losing out to Leinster at the top of Pool 1.

But their tally of 17 points was the most of the teams who failed to make it to the last eight.

And that means they will now travel to Salford in the first week of April to take on a resurgent Sale side, who won Amlin Challenge Cup Pool 1 ahead of Biarritz, Oyonnax and Worcester.

Should Saints get the better of Sale they will host either Stade Francais or Harlequins on the weekend of April 25.

The final will be played at Cardiff Arms Park on Friday, May 23.
