Dai Young’s men head to Northampton having already secured seventh spot in the Aviva Premiership.

That means they face a two-legged play-off against Stade Francais during the next two weeks to decide which team will get a place in next season’s Rugby Champions Cup.

But Dickens doesn’t feel that will detract Wasps from the task in hand this weekend and has warned Saints not to expect an easy ride as they bid to claim the point they need to secure a top-two place.

“It’s tough,” said the assistant coach. “Wasps come up here having scored a lot of points against Newcastle last week.

“They’ve got attacking threats throughout the team and we’ll treat them with respect.

“When people say they’ve got nothing to play for it is dangerous.

“There are quality players in all the squads in this league.

“We’re all competitive beasts and that’s why we play rugby professionally.

“The minute they get on that pitch, they’re competitive, no matter what the context of the game.

“We saw a couple of weeks ago with London Irish that teams can be dangerous.”
