The Saints star is confident he can make a big impression for his country, starting with the game in France on February 1.

Burrell and five other Northampton players – Dylan Hartley, Courtney Lawes, Tom Wood, Lee Dickson and Stephen Myler – headed to Pennyhill Park on Monday to start training with England.

And the former Leeds and Sale powerhouse is bulging with belief as he bids to win his first England cap.

“It’s always been a dream to play for England, I just hadn’t had the opportunities I’d have liked at other clubs,” said Burrell.

“So it’s been good to come to Northampton and get a few games under my belt and get some confidence that I’ve thrived on.

“I’ve just been quite fortunate with injuries and managed to put myself in the shop window.

“I’m believing in my ability now and the coaches have been brilliant with me. As for the players around me in the England camp, I don’t think there’s anyone there that can do anything I can’t.”
