Saints boss Mallinder expects England trio to be fit for London Irish clash

Jim Mallinder says Saints have ‘no major concerns’ over the injuries sustained by Alex Corbisiero, Tom Wood and Courtney Lawes.

Corbisiero was forced off during the second half of Saturday’s 31-24 victory against Bath after suffering a shoulder knock.

Meanwhile, Wood, who missed the previous week’s win at Newcastle, and Lawes were both absent for that Aviva Premiership encounter with back and shoulder injuries respectively.

But Mallinder is not expecting the England trio to be out for a lengthy period of time and expects them all to be fit for this weekend’s trip to London Irish.

“Alex took a bang to his shoulder. I don’t think it is anything worse than that,” said the Saints boss.

“Courtney and Tom trained on Friday at the team run and they just reacted to that. I don’t think they are far off (from playing).

“There are no major concerns. We have generally got a fit squad.

“Tom has got a bit of a sore back and Courtney a sore shoulder. They are improving and hopefully with an extra week they will be fit to play down at London Irish on Saturday.”
