Saints have a superb defensive record at the Gardens this season, conceding just one try in six outings there.

However, they have only scored six times on their own ground during the current campaign.

And forwards coach West knows his men must be more clinical if they want to see off a Wasps team who scored 51 points in their huge Champions Cup win against Leinster last weekend.

“They’re obviously full of confidence,” he said.

“That was an amazing win they had at the weekend - they played really well.

“They’ve got a good all-round game, they’ve got dangerous backs and a solid pack of forwards, who work hard and test you.

“Every time we play Wasps and have done over the past four or five years it’s been a big challenge so we’re expecting the same this week.

“We’ve been pretty good defensively.

“We’ve not scored as many as we’d have liked, but on the back of only losing one game here this season, we’re quite confident.

“We know our defence has been strong, but we’ve got to start turning that pressure we’re creating on teams into points ourselves.

“We’re not in a bad place but we’ve still got improvements to make.”
