Still one positive Covid-19 test at Saints as Premiership season gets set to resume

Franklin's Gardens will host Saints' clash with Wasps on Sunday

And the news from Saints is that there is still one positive test, as announced on Wednesday, when the Monday test results were announced.

There were two separate tests at Franklin's Gardens this week, two days apart, and Wednesday's test results were revealed on Friday at 4pm.

While the news was the same for Saints, with one player still forced to isolate, the news for the league in general was different.

Having only announced four positive tests on Wednesday - one Saints player and three non-playing staff from other clubs - Premiership Rugby was forced to announce seven positive tests across the league on Friday.

Five of those were players and two were non-playing staff, with six different clubs involved.

As usual, no specific details as to clubs or individuals were provided.

The Gallagher Premiership season will resume this evening, when Harlequins host Sale Sharks.

Saints return to action after more than five months away when they entertain Wasps at the Gardens on Sunday.

The results so far...

Week One (July 6) - 804 players and club staff were tested. Of these, 10 people tested positive. Of those 10, six were players (one from Saints) and four non-playing staff

Week Two (July 13) - 856 players and club staff were tested. Of these, nine people tested positive. Of those nine, seven were players and two non-playing staff.

Week Three (July 20) – 896 players and club staff were tested. Of these, two players (one from Saints) tested positive.

Week Four (July 27) - 846 players and club staff were tested. Of these, five people tested positive. Of those five, four were players (one from Saints) and one was a non-playing member of staff.

Week Five (August 3) - 917 players and club staff were tested. Of these, two people tested positive. Of those two, one is a player (from Saints) and one is a non-playing member of staff.

Week Six (test one) (August 10) – 989 players and club staff were tested. Of those four people tested positive. Of those three, one is a player (from Saints) and three are non-playing members of staff.

Week Six (test two) (12 August) - 956 players and club staff were tested. Of those seven people tested positive. Of those seven, five are players (one from Saints) and two are members of staff.
