Myler knows Saints must improve for crucial Gloucester clash

But he says the team are well aware of the improvements they need to make ahead of their final game of the season, at Gloucester on Saturday.

Saints were 14-0 down inside 20 minutes at Franklin’s Gardens as Jeff Williams bagged an opportunistic double for Bath.

But Jim Mallinder’s men battled back after the break, with Teimana Harrison and Mike Haywood dotting down and Myler keeping his cool with a penalty and match-winning conversion.

The victory moved Saints up to fifth in the standings and enhanced their chances of playing Champions Cup rugby next season.

And Myler said: “It was much needed.

“We’re fighting to get into the top six and we needed to win. And we need to win this week.

“It was very pleasing to get the win after a shoddy performance in patches.

“We gifted them two tries and it’s hard against any team to come back from 14-0 down.

“The lads showed a lot of character and guts but there are plenty of things we need to improve for this week.”

Gloucester have proved a tough nut to crack at Kingsholm this season and Saints will need to win there to be sure of finishing in the top six.

Harlequins are now just a point adrift of Mallinder’s men, with seventh-placed Sale Sharks a further point behind.

And Myler said: “We know it’s a tough place to go and we’ve got to go and play well, it’s as simple as that.

“We know it’s in our hands and we’ve got a big week ahead of us to prepare for our final game of the season.”
