Brian Mujati has told the Chron he is ‘very happy’ at Saints, despite reports he is set to leave the club.

Mujati - along with team-mate Soane Tonga’uiha - has been linked with a move to French Top 14 side Racing Metro, having reportedly told Northampton boss Jim Mallinder that he had decided not to take up the option of a third year on his contract.

But the South African tighthead, speaking after Saturday’s win against London Welsh, stated his desire to remain a Saints player.

And he is looking forward to reaching the milestone of 100 Saints appearances, as he currently sits just three short of the ton.

“I’m very happy,” he exclusively told the Chron, when questioned about his future.

“I’ve played 97 games now and it’s my fourth year. I’m really enjoying it here, I’ve had a good time here and I hope it continues.

And the former Lions and Stormers player, who joined Saints in 2009, added: “When I first got here I never thought I’d play for that long in such a big club.

“It means a lot that I’ve managed to get that many games for the club.”
