Doughboys hoping to bounce back

The Doughboys’ five-match unbeaten run in the ChromaSport United Counties League Premier Division came to an abrupt end at the hands of the leaders on Tuesday night as they were beaten 7-1 at Newport Pagnell Town.Stuart Goosey’s team face another tough trip tomorrow (Saturday) when they head to Eynesbury Rovers.Rothwell Corinthians picked up an impressive 1-0 success over Deeping Rangers last Saturday and they will be looking to maintain their top-eight position when they take on Boston Town at Sergeants Lawn.Whitworth also face a tough test this weekend as they take on fifth-placed Holbeach United at London Road, having suffered a 2-0 home loss to Eynesbury last time out.Rushden & Higham United will be hoping to maintain their big push at the sharp end of Division One tomorrow.A 5-0 victory over Oakham United last weekend saw the Lankies move into the second automatic promotion place, a position they will hope to maintain when they head to Long Buckby in their next game.Raunds Town remain in the hunt but they travel to Oakham looking to halt a run of four successive defeats in all competitions.Irchester United face a decent test this weekend as they host fourth-placed Lutterworth Town, rock-bottom Stewarts & Lloyds travel to Buckingham Town while Thrapston Town take on Harrowby United at Chancery Lane.Burton Park Wanderers, meanwhile, entertain Northants Combination side Heyford Athletic in the third round of the NFA Junior Cup.
