Calum Clark admits it was ‘really disappointing’ to miss out on the chance to play in an LV= Cup final at Franklin’s Gardens last Sunday.
And Clark is now desperate to help ensure that Saints don’t have any more weekends off this season.
It was really disappointing to not be involved in that (the LV= Cup final). When you see other teams play, you want to be involved and you want to playCalum Clark
Saints were forced to sit and watch as Saracens claimed glory in the showpiece against Exeter Chiefs.
It meant Clark and Co got the chance to recharge their batteries ahead of a huge run of games in the Aviva Premiership and a Champions Cup quarter-final at Clermont Auvergne.
But the England flanker says he did not want the time off and admits it was tough to see another side lifting a trophy on Northampton turf.
“That’s the most disappointing thing: that there was a chance of a home final, which you rarely get,” said Clark.
“It was really disappointing to not be involved in that.
“When you see other teams play, you want to be involved and you want to play.
“But you’ve got to take your rest when you can get it, take your chance to regenerate and it’s a big run-in now.
“Hopefully we’re ready for it.
“It’s all about being in all competitions
“When you get the chance, you’ve got to make the most of it and make sure you’re ready for the games that are coming.”
