Saints boss Chris Boyd says there is still a possibility of Jamie Gibson returning to the club.

Gibson will exit the club at the conclusion of his contract tomorrow (June 30).

The flanker took his time to consider a new deal prior to Covid-19, but it eventually became unavailable as the financial impact of the pandemic took hold.

Gibson will now move on to 'explore new opportunities, both inside and outside of rugby' and the 29-year-old has yet to secure a new club.

And that means the door remains slightly ajar at Saints.

Boyd explained: “There is a possibility for Jamie to return should we suffer a spate of injuries, but if he has played his last game then we wish him and his family every success and happiness for the future.

“Jamie has been a fantastic servant to Northampton Saints.

"He is a shining example of what it means to be a professional; Jamie gave his all every time he pulled on a black, green and gold jersey, and the consistency of his performances over the last few years is evidence of that.”
