Francois van Wyk is the only fit senior loosehead at Saints, with England Under-20s player Manny Iyogun the back-up on the bench at Leicester Tigers on Sunday.
And Boyd said: "We have four full-time loosehead props as well as Manny, who is in our Academy, so that's five props and I don't think there would be many clubs who would have more than five.
"We've got three injuries: NicK Auterac has done a hip flexor and is out for two or three weeks, Danny Hobbs-Awoyemi unfortunately snapped his Achilles tendon and he'll be out for a year or there or thereabouts, certainly most of next season, Alex Waller is coming back from an Achilles snap.

On Collins, Boyd said: "They thought he'd broke his foot but it wasn't as bad as expected.
"But I don't expect him to play again this season.
"He should be ready to go for the start of next season."
