Harry Mallinder had initially been named on the wing, but he was ruled out before the game, with Taqele Naiyaravoro starting and Tom Collins on the bench.

Mike Haywood was also due to start, but the hooker welcomed his second son into the world on Saturday and had to miss out.

Saints suffered an injury issue during the game as lock Alex Coles came on but enjoyed only a short cameo before being forced to come off.

And after the game, Boyd said: "Mikey Haywood, it was nice for him to have his second child on Saturday so he had family time today.

"Harry Mallinder pulled out on Friday with a little tweak in that knee that's been a little problematic for him but we don't expect it to be serious.

"Today, Alex Coles came on and he probably suffered a high ankle sprain and that's going to put him out.

"But we do have some bodies in that space."
