Wellingborough’s campaign in Midlands Two East (South) got off to a disappointing start with a 27-13 loss at home to Dunstablians.
They came out fresh and firing and dominated the first 20 minutes but their only reward was a Tom Mair penalty.
The visitors then took control and controlled the rest of the half scoring two tries.
Wellingborough again started well after the break but could not maintain it and Dunstablians scored further tries.
Karl McAndrew replied with a converted try only their Bedfordshire opponents to pull further ahead again.
Mair kicked another penalty but that was the scoring done.
The A team suffered a similar fate away to Dunstablians losing 27-12 but the Colts had more success winning a cracker away to Olney.
They took the honours 39-36 with Connor Alrich (3), Adam White (2), Jonny Gill and Freddie Davidson getting the tries.
The Ladies start their league season on Sunday with a trip to Harrow.
