Dan Biggar has heaped praise on James Grayson, insisting his fellow Saints fly-half has 'an absolutely huge future' ahead of him.

Biggar has been first-choice 10 at Franklin's Gardens since arriving from Ospreys in the summer of 2018.

But Grayson has also been given his fair share of game time, starting 11 times last season and on 14 occasions during the current campaign.

At 30, Biggar still has plenty of years ahead of him yet.

But he is only expecting the battle for the 10 shirt at Saints to ramp up as Grayson, now 21 years old, continues to garner experience.

"James is going to have an absolutely huge future," said Biggar, who has notched a total of 284 points in 32 appearances for Saints so far.

"He's going to be the No.10 at Northampton Saints for years and years to come.

"He is a confident character with absolutely tonnes of skill.

"Everyone sees on a Saturday that James has an excellent kicking game, he takes the ball flat to the line and brings players into play.

"What he's got that is similar to a lot of the young lads at Northampton is a real drive and a real edge to him that I like obviously.

"He's got that winning attitude and he's going to have a huge career in front of him.

"I'd like to think I've helped him in terms of some bits and pieces but for me, it's almost as much as me learning from him as him from me.

"He's better at certain things than I am and it's just about looking at how he does things.

"When you've got someone who is young, hungry and fighting for every blade of grass on the training field it makes you think 'I don't want anyone to get the better of me'.

"It's really pushed me on in a development role.

"James is going to have a huge, huge career in front of him and I'm just trying to get as many games under my belt as I can during the next couple of years before they ship me out and bring him in.

"He's got a huge career in front of him, no doubt."
