If Saints can win that they will be guaranteed a home play-off semi-final on May 23 as they bid to reach the folllowing Saturday’s Twickenham showpiece.

And Mallinder is hoping a change of scenery and a bit of sun will bring his players together as they bid to retain their title.

“We’ve got a week off now and we’re going to take the lads away to Portugal for a bit more bonding,” said the director of rugby.

“We’ll prepare for what will hopefully be another four games.

“We’ve got two league games and then hopefully a home semi-final and final.

“We’ll try to beat London Welsh and then we’ll have a look at the possibilities.”
