Pisi and Co face a New Year’s Day clash with in-form Exeter Chiefs, who have won six of their seven Aviva Premiership matches to date.

Saints are currently 12 points behind second-placed Chiefs in the league standings following the disappointing 25-23 Boxing Day defeat at London Irish.

And Pisi knows his men must react when they return home this week.

“What happened last weekend is a good learning curve for us and we can’t take any game for granted,” said the Samoan centre.

“The game against Exeter is going to be tough because they’re up in the top four and going well.

“But it’s a home game so it’s a chance to get back in front of our fans and start the new year on a high.

“Where we are in the league is humbling us and it will make sure we don’t take teams for granted now.

“We need to see the end of the year as a clean slate for us and it would be good to start the new year with a win.”
