Competing in Group Four, Chandler drew 2-2 with Joe Perry and then beat Mark King 3-1 to set up a decisive final match with Sam Baird.

After sharing the first two frames with Baird, world number 84 Chandler compiled a superb break of 101 and then took the last frame as well for a 3-1 victory.

It means he will be back in Milton Keynes next week along with the other 15 group winners while winning his group ensured he pocketed a cool £4,000.

“I am chuffed, I am over the moon to be honest,” Chandler said.

“That century felt like a 147, the pressure on the last few balls was big and when that blue went in I was chuffed.

“For someone like me, £4,000 is a lot of money and I can’t wait to play again.”

Kettering’s Kyren Wilson, however, missed out on a place in the next phase after he was beaten in a decisive final match.

Sporting a new grey hairstyle, world number eight Wilson opened up with a 2-2 draw with Chen Feilong before seeing off Alfie Burden 3-0.

That set up a clash with Ryan Day, who had an identical record.

Breaks of 91 and 55 put Day 2-0 ahead, before Wilson pulled one back with his 111 in the third frame being the highest break made in the group, which meant he would have topped the table if he had fought back to draw.

Wilson had an early scoring chance in frame four, but made just 16 before running out of position.

And Day knocked in a long red and went on to make 86 to book his place in the second phase.
