Northants moved four points clear at the top of the Central Group with Thursday night's four-wicket win over Glamorgan at Edgbaston.

It was the Steelbacks fourth win in a row and maintained their unbeaten start to the competition, with their first match at Gloucestershire having been abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Their haul of nine points from five matches is the best of all the 18 counties, with the last over win against Glamorgan the perfect way to go into a week-long break while the Bob Willis Trophy reclaims centre stage.

Only a handful of the 13 who have played in the T20 matches so far will be involved as Northants head to Bristol on Sunday for the final match in their truncated red ball season, and the rest will be able to put their feet up for a couple of days after a hectic run of four matches in six days

"We have got every point possible on the table, so we couldn't really ask for much more," said Cobb.

"Most of these lads will probably have a few days off now, because the Bob Willis Trophy that won the last game will probably roll on into that.

"That will give us time to freshen up and then get some good practice in and come back strong."

But he added: "We then have to try and keep the momentum going into the last five games, with one eye on the quarter-finals as well."

"Because if and when we do make the quarter-finals, then the momentum at the back end of the competition will be huge going into that.

"We have to keep this rolling on, we have been excellent so far but there is still a long way to go."
