Combining experience of over 40 years between them, they have set out to blend the traditional values of martial arts such as karate and kung fu and compliment them with modern athletic training methods from boxing and freestyle kickboxing.

Head coach Smith, a 28-year-old sport science graduate from Loughborough University, said: “In usual circumstances, you would have to attend a variety of different clubs, classes and instructors to get the full spectrum of training.

“Having experienced this challenge first-hand, we thought there was a better way to impart all of the skills and knowledge required using just one platform.

“Our methods bring together modern sports science with conventional martial arts which enables us to deliver tried and tested techniques using an innovative format.

“We want to build warm and welcoming community fitness clubs, where our main ambition is to get people active, healthy and having fun.”

Further than focusing on just the local aspects, the pair also aspire to train a new breed of combat superstars.

Smith added: “Martial arts and combat sports are among the fastest growing in the world.

“Kickboxing is making serious progress towards becoming an Olympic sport while karate will be included in the 2021 Tokyo games.
