Corby cruiserweight Simon Barclay ended the year with the best performance of his promising professional career.

The 24 year-old won every session of his four-round fight with Rolandas Cesna on the referee’s scorecard.

Barclay ended the fight with his right hand swollen, but that didn’t prevent him chalking up a fourth straight win.

The 40-36 score line means Barclay has won every round he’s boxed in the professional ring.

Cesna came from Lithuania to win, but Barclay was way too good for him and soon took away his ambition..

Barclay, who won ABA titles at cruiserweight and heavyweight before turning professional this year, was composed, showed a great variety of punches and came close to forcing a stoppage in the last round.

His crisp left hook to the body had Cesna backpedalling, his face pinched with pain.

Barclay went looking for the stoppage, but ran out of time and had to settle for a fourth straight points win.

He said: “I’m very pleased with that. I thought I was more aggressive, went forward more and put my punches together.”

Barclay should be back in the ring targeting a fifth straight win at Wolverhampton Civic Hall on February 14.
