The Wales star, who will line up at centre for his country against France on Saturday, saw off competition from Tom Wood and Alex Waller to claim the prize.

North becomes the fifth different winner of a monthly award at Saints this season, following in the footsteps of Sam Dickinson, Samu Manoa, Waller and Christian Day.

The 21-year-old caught the eye of the Franklin’s Gardens faithful with three barnstorming displays in January, against Harlequins, Ospreys and Castres.

North bulldozed Charlie Walker to grab a try which helped Saints beat Quins before blazing in for a score against Ospreys at the Liberty Stadium.

The game against Castres on January 17 saw North impress once again before heading off on Six Nations duty.

He has so far played two games for his country during the Six Nations, with a victory against Italy followed by defeat to Ireland in Dublin.

Meanwhile, Ryan Glynn has been named Saints clubman of the month for January, earning the award for his unflagging enthusiasm in training and as a travelling reserve.
