Myler’s pride as Saints fight back to claim draw in Kingsholm classic

But he is adamant their display at Kingsholm was far from good enough.

Myler landed a last-gasp conversion to ensure Saints, who were 23-6 down during the first half, earned a share of the spoils.

But the fly-half was not happy with the overall display and knows he and his team-mates must do better in the weeks and months to come.

When asked if the draw felt like a win due to the circumstances in which it was earned, he said: “It doesn’t because the first half as a whole is not what we expect of ourselves. It wasn’t good enough.

“I’m unbelievably proud of the character we showed and the rugby we played to get ourselves back in the game but we don’t feel like it’s a win.

“We’re obviously pleased to come out with a draw from the situation we were in but we’ve got to do better than that.

“Moving forward for the rest of the season, we know we can do better than that.”

Myler has become well versed in landing vital late penalties and conversions during his time at Saints.

And the man who now has more Premiership appearances to his name than any other Northampton player reflected on his crucial kick.

“It was a strange day really, very windy, and it’s never nice when you’re stood there watching the ball wobbling on the tee,” said Myler, who registered 18 points, missing just once at Kingsholm.

“It can play tricks with you that happened with the one I missed and hit the post.

“You just have to stick to your process and your technique and though I didn’t connect with it 100 per cent, I did enough and it went straight and true.

“We’re relieved to get the draw at the end of the day.”
