Myler says Saints can’t allow their hard work to go to waste

Myler and Co head to Cardiff Arms Park hoping to crown their European campaign victory over their Aviva Premiership rivals.

Bath made it to the final thanks to a 100 per cent record through the Challenge Cup pool stages and strong performances against Brive and Wasps in the knockout rounds.

Saints dropped into the competition after finishing second in their Heineken Cup pool, with victory over Leinster in Dublin the highlight.

And after successfully negotiating a tricky trip to Sale and a home clash with Harlequins, they now have a chance to lift a trophy.

“If we hadn’t gone to Leinster and beaten Castres here at Franklin’s Gardens, we wouldn’t be where we are now because we wouldn’t have qualified for this final,” said Myler. “We’d have been out.

“We’ve had to go to Sale in difficult conditions and we put in an unbelievable performance that night with a team that had been rotated.

“We had Quins here in the semi-final and now we have to beat Bath in the final.

“They’re all great teams and if you don’t play well against them, you’re going to get beaten.

“You don’t just show up and get given a trophy, you’ve got to earn it by beating big teams and that’s when you go and test yourselves as a squad.”
