Kettering snooker star Kyren Wilson saw his Betway UK Championship hopes ended after he suffered a 6-1 defeat to Tom Ford.

The 23-year-old had already seen off Paul Davison (6-2) and Mike Dunn (6-2) to reach the third round at York’s Barbican Centre.

But the Shanghai Masters champion was unable to progress further as he was unable to recover from a slow start against Ford.

Wilson found himself 3-0 down as world number 52 Ford knocked in breaks of 56 and 67.

The Kettering man pulled one back with a break of 84 but it was one-way traffic after that as Ford won the next three with breaks of 78, 70 and 65 helped secure his place in the last 16.
