Thrapston was alive and buzzing last Sunday as over 30 youngsters took part in the club’s mini red and orange tournament.

Despite a strong representation from Kettering, Corby and Oundle in the latter stages of both, Stamford juniors held sway in the form of Jamie Anderson and William Stanier.

Anderson, competing in the mini reds, won all his group matches and joined Kettering trio Isaac Redding, Arabella Yeowart and Nathan Gates in the last four. At this hurdle, Anderson beat Gates 10-2 while Redding was a 10-4 victor at the expense of Yeowart. Anderson defeated Redding (both pictured) 10-8 in the final to atone for the fact he had lost his last two Thrapston tournaments in the semi-final.

The orange competition saw Stanier joined by club-mate Jonathan Watkinson, Corby’s Alexander Cochrane and Oundle player Matilda Lanni in the last four.

After the semi-finals saw Stanier beat Cochrane 7-4, 7-4 and Watkinson edge past Lanni 7-4, 7-3, Stanier took the all Stamford final 7-2, 7-4 for his third successive win at the Thrapston event.
