Corby AC hurdler Lucy Hatton won a superb silver medal after an amazing day at the European Indoor Athletics Championships.
The 20-year-old finished second in the 60m hurdles in a personal best time of 7.90 and was only edged out out the gold-medal position as Belarus athlete Alina Talay pipped her in 7.85.
It was in fact the third time in a day that Hatton had broken her best-ever time.
She went under eight seconds for the first time as she cruised through the qualifying round in 7.96.
By the time the semis has been completed that had been reduced to 7.93.
And she managed to trim that even more in the final as her remarkable form of late was rewarded with a major championship medal.
Hatton’s fellow Great Britain runner Serita Solomon joined her on the podium having also gone through her record clocking to post 7.93 and finish third.
Immediately post-race Hatton said: “I loved it, it was amazing.
“It was not a great race, it was not a perfect race, so there is always room to improve.
“Sorry, I would like to see my father and hug him.”
