Sailing – Healthy turnout in the heat at Hollowell

Light winds plagued the weekend’s racing at Hollowell Sailing Club as temperatures soared.

Despite this and the clash with the Wimbledon men’s final on Sunday, there was a healthy turnout in both days’ racing.

In total, nine boats took part in day three of the Saturday Summer Series. David Heathcote, in his Solo, took the first race while Andy Baker, sailing a Rooster 8.1, took the second race. Brian Atkins and Jane Coverdale, who sail a Laser Vago XD, currently lead the Series overall.

The following day, 14 boats took to the water in the Sunday Summer Series. Once again Keith Lancaster dominated the day by winning all three races.

Although Lancaster has finished well in the last two sailing days, Mike and Helen Playle still retain their lead in the Sunday Series.

The Sunday racing takes a break this weekend as Hollowell hosts the NSSCA’s Anglian Water Series. The club’s youth squad will be hoping to perform well on their home water.
