Daniel Keatings has been called up to the Great Britain team that will compete at the 2013 European Artistic Gymnastic Championships in Moscow next month.
Corby gymnast Keatings suffered the heartbreak of missing out on last year’s London Olympics but returned to top-level competition last weekend by claiming five gold medals at the British Championships.
That form meant he was a cast-iron certainty to be part of the squad for Moscow that was named this morning.
Keatings is part of a six-strong men’s squad for the competition which takes place on April 17-21.
The team is led by recently-crowned British all-around champion Max Whitlock and he is joined by his Olympic team-mates, Daniel Purvis and Sam Oldham.
Keatings and Theo Seager are also confirmed on the trip with the final spot to be decided between Ashley Watson and Reiss Beckford.
British Gymnastics head of performance sport, Tim Jones said: “As the first major event of the new Olympic cycle we have taken the opportunity to give experience to a group of new seniors at a major championships.
“Clearly we want to maintain the momentum the sport gained from our historic results at the London Olympics but similarly we are aware that in the context of the next four year cycle we are building towards the important results that will come in 2015.”
