Corby’s Daniel Keatings enjoyed a superb weekend in Glasgow as he returned from the Scottish National Artistic Gymnastics Championships with two gold medals and a silver.
In his home country, Keatings was involved in a tight battle with Olympic bronze medalist Daniel Purvis in the all around competition.
Purvis (87.167) eventually took gold after a strong high bar routine with Keatings having to settle for second on 85.167.
But the Northamptonshire gymnast returned the following day to win the pommel horse event before also claiming gold thanks to a personal best score of 16.050 on the parallel bars.
Keatings, who trains at Huntingdon Olympic Gymnastics Club, was pleased to compete in the all around event, his first outing in that competition for two years.
He said: “I had a few mistakes, it was my first all around for two years since 2012 so I was happy to have survived it.”
