Great Eastern brings age-group success for O’Sullivan and Searle

Higham’s Elaine O’Sullivan (Team Balancise) and Kettering Town Harrier Ron Searle turned in a fine performances at the Perkins Great Eastern half marathon to secure top spot in their respective veteran age groups.

O’Sullivan ran 93.06 to finish 41st to win the V55 section while also running well was Corby’s Hayley Veasey (65th in 79.19) and the Kettering Harriers trio of Trudi Pike (74th in 98.53), Lauren Mehmet (87th in 1.41.13) and Yvonne Mehmet (198th in 1.47.44).

Top runner home for Wellingborough was Justine Keech, who finished 93rd in 1.41.38 and was followed by Karen Tomkins (190th in 1.46.45), Victoria Watson (1.49.49), Emily Keggin (1.55.06), Gillian Brightwell (1.56.10), Amy Vaughan (1.57.38), Theresa Clark (1.59.51), Lynda Rowse (2.00.36), Helen King (2.00.57), Karen Lower (2.01.46), Jill Shinnick (2.02.13), Valerie Anslow (2.08.01), Ann Phillips (2.12.22). Rebecca Surgen (2.13.46), Geraldine Johnson (2.14.20), Carole Betts (2.18.02), Kirsty Dodd (2.26.04), Jane Cuthbert (2.34.35), Nicola Manning (2.42.32), Julie O’Reilly (2.44.26) and Tonika Bing (2.57.54).

Searle clocked 85.28 to win the V60 section when finishing 179th overall while also running for the Harriers was Matt Fowler, who ran a new best when finishing 59th in 77.25, Robert Brownlee (133rd in 83.00), Kemal Mehmet (181st in 85.30) and Matt Peleszok (632nd in 99.03).

Kettering’s Damian Carr (Coventry Godiva Harriers) ran well to finish 15th in 73.05 while Rothwell’s Ady King (Harborough AC) clocked 81.18 to finish 107th.

In action for Corby were Mark Spence (166th in 85.04), Scott Magee (224th in 87.36), Paul Mottram (242nd in 88.43), John McCrone (366th in 92.45), Nigel Taylor (456th in 95.05), Alex Wright (491st in 94.16) and Mark Bland (734th in 1.42.01).

Desborough & Rothwell’s Alan Mutch finished 578th in 98.02, while fronting the Wellingborough contingent was Michael Quinn, who came 387th in 92.04, and was followed by Mark Harrison (681st in 99.19), Gary Thacker (1.43.45), Neil Mattinson (1.45.42), Simon Callow (1.46.29), Tom Newton (1.47.15), Rob Bing (1.53.39), Phil Grimes (1.54.27), Tony Frain (1.58.14), Malcolm Headland (1.58.32), Jamie Gautrey (2.02.44), Mathew Hollis (2.10.50), Alan Mills (2.28.49), Andy Manning (2.40.19) and Kevin O’Reilly (2.44.25).
