Ryan Evans will be playing on the European Tour next year.
The Wellingborough golfer finished in the top 25 of the final round of Qualifying School and booked his place with the game’s elite for 2016.
His nine-under-par card from the six rounds at PGA Catalunya Resort earned him a 19th-place finish and guaranteed him a spot on tour.
He was the first competitor back in the clubhouse so had to wait for all the others to finish before he was certain his 67-72-70-73-69-68-419 was enough.
Evans said: “It’s huge. Every golfer wants to be on the European Tour.
“I gave up my job two years ago to pursue my dream of professional golf.
“I knew I had to go out there (in the final round) and post a good score to give myself a chance.
“I said if I could get to nine (under par) then I would have a very good chance.
“Being off first you don’t really know (how it is going to end) because everyone else is behind you.
“The up-and-down on 17 helped. It relaxed me a little on the 18th tee.
“I wanted to hit a driver and my caddie said ‘no, hit a three wood’.
“I ended up hitting the three wood and I think a bit of adrenaline kicked in because I smoked it down the middle.
“Then I just told myself, three more shots from here and hopefully it’s done.”
