Northamptonshire duo Kevin McDine and Kevin Painter are both out of the PDC Speedy Services UK Open.

Having won three matches on Thursday night to earn a place in the third round, Irthlingborough’s McDine was handed a tough task against world champion Adrian Lewis.

And ‘Jackpot’ showed his class as he swept into the last 32 with a comfortable 9-1 success.

Lewis said: “It feels fantastic to win so well.

“Last year I lost to Terry Jenkins in the third round so it’s great to be through.

“I thought I was solid and it was a good performance, and I’m looking forward to the rest of the weekend.”

Painter, meanwhile, suffered something of a shock defeat as he was edged out 9-8 by youngster Arron Monk.

The only County player left in the competition is Paul Nicholson, who moved to Corby recently.

He beat Michael Mansell 9-7 in the third round and will now face Monk in the next stage.
