With no clear leader in either the Saturday or Sunday Spring Series at Hollowell Sailing Club, there was a big turnout for the final days of both competitions.
The Saturday Series saw nearly 20 boats compete, while the duty officer for the Sunday Series reported 36 boats on the water.
Saturday produced some nail biting racing with the overall result not being known until after the final race.
In the first race, Mary Mallard, sailing a Laser, fought off strong competition from two youngsters – Ed Middleton-Smith in a Laser Radial and Morgan Smith in an RS Aero 9 – to take top spot.
In the second race, Laser sailor Ian Clark had an impressive win, beating Simon King and Tony Everard to take the overall title.
On the Sunday, Clark was out again, competing neck and neck with Solo sailor Keith Lancaster.
However despite winning the first race ahead of Lancaster and taking a further two third places, it wasn’t enough to take the series.
Lancaster took the coveted Sunday Series overall with Clark finishing second and duo Mike and Helen Playle coming third.
Racing continues this coming weekend at Hollowell with Sprint Racing on Saturday and the start of the Sunday Summer Series.
However the main event will be the inter-club Tiller and Spar, which this year is being hosted at Northampton Sailing Club.
