Mallinder’s bravehearts secured a stunning 26-15 success against Glasgow Warriors thanks to two tries from Ahsee Tuala and one from George Pisi.

The display was up there with the best Saints have produced during Mallinder’s time at the club.

They have won at teams such as Ulster and Leinster in memorable European Cup matches, and the win at Glasgow was another huge effort.

And Mallinder said: “We definitely remember nights like Leinster and Ulster, not just the game but spending time together and enjoying each other’s company.

“It is special because you do come home from normal Premiership wins on the bus, but we’re staying an extra night so it’s a good chance for the lads to have a beer together and let their hair down.

“Hopefully we’ll enjoy the evening.”

Saints attacked and defended with real vigour at Scotstoun, ruining Glasgow’s record.

The Warriors had won their last six matches against English opposition in Europe’s premier club rugby competition, but they had no answer to Saints.

“It was a massive, committed performance,” Mallinder said.

“The set piece was very, very strong, scrum in particular.

“Our lineout went well and then we took our opportunities in attack.

“Defensively, we were very, very good.

“Glasgow really attacked us, put us under pressure all over the field, but we defended well and took our opportunities.

“Every time we take to the field, we believe we can win. If you don’t believe you can win, you’re struggling.

“We didn’t quite know how Glasgow were going to play having not had their European game last week and getting a lot of players back.

“You don’t have a massive gauge on how they will perform.

“We knew they would move the ball around and be a threat, so we talked about defending with width and accuracy - and we did that.”
