Jim Mallinder is hoping to be able to recall some of Saints’ big guns for Saturday’s Aviva Premiership game against Wasps.

The director of rugby was without George North, Alex Corbisiero, Christian Day, Dylan Hartley, Ethan Waller and Lee Dickson for Friday night’s 19-19 draw at Bath.

American forward Samu Manoa was hit with injury in that game, taking a blow to the ribs that forced him off in the 55th minute.

But Mallinder is optimistic that Manoa will be fit to face Wasps and is hopeful some of his other stars could be back this weekend.

“Samu had a little knock to his ribs in the first half so we got him off after half-time,” said Mallinder. “We’ll look after him and hopefully he’s all right.

“I think we’re fine and we’ve hopefully got a couple of big lads in the front row returning soon.

“They’re all training well, working hard and there’s a possiblity we could see some of them against Wasps. We’ll be excited to welcome them back.”
