Long-term injury victims return for Wanderers’ trip to Worcester

Saints will be boosted by the return of three long-term injury victims for the Wanderers trip to Worcester Cavaliers this evening.

Matt Williams could make his first appearance since breaking his leg in an Aviva Premiership meeting with London Irish in April, with the hooker named on the bench.

Scrum-half Joel Hodgson, who moved to Northampton from Newcastle during the summer, is also among the replacements after recovering from a wrist problem.

And more good news comes in the form of Mike Haywood, who had shoulder surgery at the end of last season, as he starts against the Cavaliers.

Prop Tom Mercey and flanker Ben Nutley could get their first game time of the new campaign as they take their place on the bench at Sixways.

Phil Dowson, a second-half replacement in Saturday’s win against Bath, will captain the Wanderers as they look to make it two wins from two in the Aviva ‘A’ League.
