Centre Burrell was withdrawn with 10 minutes to go in the 19-19 draw at Leicester last Saturday, clutching his shoulder as he exited the pitch.

Lock Day missed the game altogether after limping off in the win against Sale Sharks eight days earlier.

But King is confident the pair will be able to play some part in this weekend’s Heineken Cup Pool 1 opener.

“They’re both coming on well,” said King.

“We’re optimistic, but obviously a decision will be made nearer the game time.

“We’ve got a good squad this year and hopefully we can deal with injuries as and when they come.

“They’re part and parcel of the game and we’ll just get on with it.”
