And more good news comes in the form of Kiwi utility back James Wilson, who has returned to training after recovering from an arm injury that has kept him out since last season.

However, Saints will remain without Dylan Hartley, who is still not 100 per cent after sustaining concussion in the defeat to Saracens on November 7.

Pisi had missed the 33-3 defeat at Racing last week as Mallinder opted to rest the Samoan centre, while Fisher has not played since the win at Glasgow on November 21.

But Mallinder said: “They’re both available.

“George Pisi was rotated, had a rest over the weekend and came out as a traveller.

“Jon Fisher has also trained fully this week so he’s available for the weekend.”

On Hartley, Mallinder, who was also without Tom Wood (shoulder), Calum Clark (shoulder) and Alex Corbisiero (knee) last weekend, said: “Dylan’s making good improvements.

“He’s training now, doing quite a lot, but he’s just not 100 per cent fit.

“There’s a chance, but until he’s reporting that he feels completely back to normal, we won’t rush him back.

“He hasn’t done a full contact session yet.

“Most of the time he’s fine and he can run and lift heavy weights, but sometimes after a training session he doesn’t feel 100 per cent right.

“It’s not as if he’s got a splitting migrane, is violently sick or anything like that, it’s just hard for him to describe so it’s difficult for me to say what it is.

“He’s optimistic and we’re optimistic that it’s not going to be any more long-term.”
