Hill admits Saints pack had too much power for Warriors

Meanwhile, Worcester were left to rue a failure to take their chances as they surrendered a 12-9 half-time lead to succumb during a tough second 40 minutes on a boggy surface.

“We had a good first-half and for the first 20 minutes of the second-half we played some superb rugby out there,” said Hill.

“A year ago you wouldn’t have seen Worcester with the same intent and the ability to play 15-man rugby.

“We made more line-breaks in that game than I’ve seen us make in many Premiership matches, but we are not finishing them off.

“We have to keep persevering with that type of rugby, because the players enjoy it and we can’t afford to go back to basics.

“We have to keep playing with that intent and with ball-in-hand - eventually we will learn to finish off those line-breaks we are making.

“There is a reason why we are not finishing off those chances, but it was pretty difficult in those conditions to try and produce the quick ball you need once you’ve made the line-break.

“I don’t think we’re far off - the hardest thing is to make the line-breaks - we just need to finish them off.

“Today we got beaten by a power game; we couldn’t deal with Saints’ scrum and lineout, which they did very well.”
