Harlequins-bound Doran-Jones delighted to join ‘best club in the Premiership’

Saints prop Paul Doran-Jones says he’s looking forward to playing for ‘the best club in the Premiership’ after signing a two-year deal at Harlequins.

It has been confirmed today (Tuesday) that the England Saxons player will move to The Stoop this summer, following two seasons at Franklin’s Gardens.

Doran-Jones joined Saints from Gloucester in 2011, providing competition for first-choice tighthead Brian Mujati.

The 27-year-old has made 35 appearances for Northampton but been unable to get above Mujati in the pecking order and will join the current Premiership champions when the season ends.

And Doran-Jones said: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to play at the best club in the Premiership.

“The team play with smiles on their faces, a sure sign that they enjoy their style of rugby.

“I’m looking forward to being part of that, to improving my game and to working with the coaches and players to contribute to further success for Harlequins.

“In the meantime, I’m committed to doing my best for everyone at Northampton Saints and helping the club to a great finish to the season.”

Doran-Jones will be part of a prop exodus at the Gardens this summer, with Mujati and Soane Tonga’uiha set to join French club Racing Metro.

But Saints have moved quickly to snap up England loosehead Alex Corbisiero from London Irish as well as tying Alex Waller and Tom Mercey to new deals.
