Saints and Glynn struggled in last year’s Aviva Premiership curtain raiser, beating Leicester Tigers before losing to Sale and London Welsh to finish third in their group at Edgeley Park.

But following the which will see Saints welcome their 2012 opposition to Franklin’s Gardens on Friday August 2 for Pool B, with the top two progressing to the final at Bath the following week, Glynn, 21 is targeting a far better outcome this time around.

“It’s always nice to get out there after a tough pre-season and the tournament has grown from strength-to-strength over the years that’s it been going,” said Glynn, speaking at the launch of the competition which took part at Saracens’ Allianz Park and is now in its fourth year.

“I’m looking forward to it. We’ve had a traditionally young team for this tournament and that’s been good for us really, we’ve done relatively well and in the first year we got to the final down at the Rec.

“Last year we struggled a bit more up in Manchester, but hopefully we can do well at home again this year and get a good start to the year for the Saints.

“It is a serious competition, it’s a bit too early to say what kind of team we’re going to put out but I’m sure whoever is involved will obviously be committed to putting in a good performance and getting a win.

“I think after last year’s Olympics people are looking forward to the next one already and with sevens being named as an Olympic sport, I think it’s exciting to think we could be watching someone in the Olympics who played in the tournament and hopefully we can see ourselves doing well in that.”

The second leg of J.P. Morgan Premiership Rugby 7s will be at Franklin’s Gardens, the home of Northampton Saints, on Friday 2 August. For tickets and more information visit: www.jpmorgan7s.com or follow @jpmorganrugby7s
