Three first-half goals saw the Steelmen slip to a 3-0 defeat at Chorley on Saturday to leave them still second-from-bottom in the table.

They could drop to the foot tomorrow night (Tuesday) if AFC Telford United beat another of the strugglers Hednesford Town in a key basement battle.

But Wright, who is now preparing for the trip to Worcester City on Saturday, knows it’s up to him and his players to start finding victories if they are to survive.

“We need that one win and I have belief in these lads that they can go on a run,” the Corby boss said.

“The likes of Spencer (Weir-Daley) and Ben (Milnes) didn’t stop running at the weekend and the whole team’s attitude and togetherness is a massive plus point.

“But I am not naive enough to think that we don’t need to start winning games soon.

“We have a week to prepare for Worcester and we will go into it on the back of a positive 45 minutes in the second half.

“I don’t want to see it going to the death and I don’t want to keep relying on other teams slipping up.

“We want to focus on what we are doing and when you give your players a points target, you want to reach it as soon as possible.”
