Turner and Arnold send Desborough into the last eight
Two second-half goals were enough to send Desborough Town through to the quarter-finals of the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League's Knockout Cup as they beat Sleaford Town 2-0 at the Waterworks Field.
After a goalless first half, Jason Turner broke the deadlock from the penalty spot just past the hour mark.
And the win was wrapped up 17 minutes from the end thanks to Will Arnold’s goal.
It was a day to forget for both Wellingborough Town and Rothwell Corinthians in the UCL Premier Division.
The Doughboys were on the end of a 7-0 hammering at the hands of leaders Peterborough Sports who had Dan Clements (2), Avelino Vieira (2), Mark Jones, Dan Lawlor and Jordan Macleod on target.
Corinthians, meanwhile, had Marvin Hill sent off as they suffered a 3-1 defeat at Cogenhoe United.
A late Matt Judge goal earned Whitworth a share of the points against fellow high-flyers Potton United in Division One.
The hosts took the lead through Cory Cooper on 11 minutes but the Flourmen battled back and Judge struck eight minutes from the end to secure a point.
The local derby at Kiln Park went the way of Thrapston Town as they claimed a 1-0 win over hosts Raunds Town.
Dodzi Agbenu was the hero for Thrapston as he grabbed the only goal of the game.
Rushden & Higham United went down 2-0 at second-placed Bugbrooke while Irchester United suffered a 5-3 defeat at Long Buckby.
Burton Park Wanderers were edged out 2-1 by Lutterworth Athletic at Latimer Park while Jake Buckingham’s goal was only a consolation as rock-bottom Stewarts & Lloyds were thrashed 8-1 at Bourne Town.
