It’s been a flying start to the United Counties League Premier Division season for Wellingborough Town.

The Doughboys made it three wins out of three with a 3-2 success at Deeping Rangers on Tuesday night.

Wellingborough took the lead through Liam Tuck before the hosts were reduced to 10 men but that didn’t stop them from equalising before half-time and then going 2-1 on 58 minutes.

But the Doughboys struck back with Matt Long levelling before Lloyd Buckby’s 72nd-minute effort proved to be the winner.

It was also a good midweek for Rothwell Corinthians, who remain unbeaten after three games, as they saw off Leicester Nirvana 3-0 at Sergeants Lawn.

And it was a particularly good evening for Dodzi Agbenu as he scored twice while Craig Maisiri was also on target as Corinthians sealed all three points.

The Division One midweek local derby brought a first win of the season for Rushden & Higham United as they won 3-2 at Irchester United.

Two goals from Devon Pickett and one from Connor I’Anson put the Lankies 3-0 up at half-time and they saw it out despite James Ball scoring twice for the Romans after the break.

Elsewhere, two goals from Joshua Jones earned Whitworth a 2-2 draw with Whittlesey Athletic but Burton Park Wanderers’ first game of the season ended in a 5-0 home defeat to Blackstones.

Raunds Town were in action last night (Wednesday) and suffered a 2-1 loss at Huntingdon Town.
