Steelmen set for a showdown with Bromsgrove

The Steelmen go into the clash sitting five points behind the Evo-Stik League South Division One Central leaders with two games in hand.Corby are now the only unbeaten side in the division after both Bromsgrove, who were thrashed 5-1 at Bedford Town on Saturday, and Peterborough Sports lost for the first time in the league this season at the weekend.The two sides have already met once this campaign with the Steelmen claiming a 3-1 success at Bromsgrove in the extra preliminary round of the Buildbase FA Trophy.But now league points are at stake for two clubs keen to launch a promotion challenge.And while no title will be won or lost this evening, Steelmen boss Steve Kinniburgh knows this is a big game for both clubs.Corby had to fight back from 3-1 down to claim a 3-3 draw at Dunstable Town on Saturday.And Kinniburgh said: “It’s obvious that nothing is going to be decided by this one game.“But it will definitely have an impact on how the league is going to shape up.“There’s no question it is a big game for both sides and I think both of us could do with the win after the weekend.“We played them in the Trophy and we got the win that day but that was exactly what we said it was at the time and that was both teams’ first chance to get a look at each other.“We are the home team this time so I am sure approaches will change for both teams.“But plenty has happened since that Trophy game and I think the last week has shown just why managers and players always take it one game at a time.“If you start looking too far ahead, you lose focus on the job at hand.“We are looking forward to a big game, these are the ones you want and we will do what we can to get a positive result.”The Steelmen will have Connor Kennedy available again after he served a one-match ban at the weekend.
