Steelmen need a big reaction in crucial encounter
Corby Town face their biggest match of the season so far when they head to Sutton Coldfield Town tomorrow (Saturday).
The clock is already ticking for the Steelmen as they face up to another fight against relegation in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division.
A disastrous start to the campaign, which came off the back of them dropping out of the Vanarama National League North after just one season, has left Corby rock-bottom of the table and already nine points adrift of safety.
Boss Gary Mills has made sweeping changes to the squad in recent weeks.
But the time has now arrived for them to start delivering results on the pitch after they turned in a poor performance in last weekend’s 2-0 defeat to Barwell at Steel Park.
Sutton Coldfield are second-from-bottom and three points clear of the Steelmen.
And this weekend’s clash is followed by a trip to another of the strugglers, Marine, next weekend.
It looks set to be a crucial week for Mills’ men and the manager insists they know what is at stake.
“They are two massive games for us, there is no denying that,” the Corby boss said.
“It is a huge game tomorrow and I think everyone is well aware of how important it is.
“What we want to do is get the performances to a level where the results take care of themselves.
“So, from one to 16 in the squad, we are looking to improve those performance levels and if we can do that then hopefully the results will follow.
“The lads are determined to put things right after last weekend.
“I will demand a reaction from the lads and I hope I will get what I am looking for.”
