Caretaker-manager Steve Kinniburgh made changes following the 3-1 victory over Kidsgrove Athletic with Sam Wilson returning in goal after injury while Ryan Bell and Jake Bettles both came into the starting line-up.

But there were few problems for the Steelmen as they raced into a 3-0 lead inside the first half-hour.

Steven Leslie headed them in front after six minutes and, after Wilson had saved from Luke Aldrich, the advantage was doubled when Bettles seized on a defensive mix-up to score his second goal in as many games.

And the game was all-but over after 27 minutes when Sam Warburton followed up to score after Sam Vince had saved an initial shot.

The Steelmen made it 4-0 10 minutes into the second half when Phil Trainer placed a shot into the far corner.

Cleethorpes pulled one back late on when Danny North tapped home after Wilson had saved a Mark Cooper header.

But there were no further scares for Kinniburgh’s team as they moved up to eighth in the Evo-Stik League South table and back to within five points of the play-off places.

The Steelmen will now need to recover quickly for a clash at Leek Town on Saturday before they host Stamford at Steel Park on Easter Monday.
